Well well, new band again - and sounds very promising: White Lies. The band's website is not very accessible because of Flash/JS or whatever they done with it (could be good if they strip all that and just add standard video player).

It took me a couple of days to get to review the gig. It was really overwhelming: in sound and performance. It will be a mini review at first, but I will add to it more content gradually, as I get to publish some pictures and list of songs I particularly find remarkable.
First of all Apocalyptica has a luxury to have a Lacrimas Profundere as a "warming-up" band. Lacrimas Profundere is a great band, every song nicely written and was performed with the high professionalism. Really impressive live band.
And Apocalyptica was great. Very neat in technique, nicely played. As every song of them has its own genre: some of them - more to acoustic cello pieces - as Bittersweet or Seaman) or would it be metal, or rock - and so every song was performed with the attention to the nuances and details. It was really interesting to watch as an act.
I hope I will add the full list with the songs and give each of them mini- review as well.

Were working on my WP blog yesterday - just to see what could be done. Now i need a header to fit instead of blue and right col to fit. WP is good but you need to look for plugins to have simple things working. Template is on its way and now i know exact title - the rest could be quite easy and all is ready for flash fading gallery - need to make a template for it for future possible project. So this is a plan for a few days. And after i've made stack again, now i know how to do whithout opening a tutorial. Well, almost:

Pushing this Joe template further today - and the header is ready. It doesn't mean that i know even the theme - now a few come out - music, sport or in between. Doesn't really matter but it would help to finish off quicker if i decide on what would be the main subject. i thought i can give widgets some more try as i just have no energy to open Illustrator or Photoshop or edit anything on my pages. So I've made another shuffle with widgets. It was ready in 5 mins again. But i got tired quite quickly editing CSS on this page. Sicky sicky. But result is ok. I will try some other of their galleries later.

Just finished masthead for the gallery of posters on my Music Blog. Not bad. Dark background require more work on color than on layout. As white goes with every color, black need some subtle colors to match. I think i will need to work on a few palettes for black backgrounds.

Suddenly(though predictably) I got a mood to make another template and right away. Now the theme is known, header is ready (more or less) and colors chosen. Now as always small things - elements which make page pretty. The challenge with this particular template will be: create some decent fluid layout(!) and oh horror - with dark background. I'm not saying that there will be a flower. But there will be. So steady on. I even not sure how it will come out.

A little tutorial(for myself). To embed song here from radio.blog.club you need to sign in and click on the button beside the song. Username and password are in the google box. Done.

Moving into portfolio page. I need to make a splash for portfolio and as always code is there but graphics coming along slowly. I have a header though - not sure how it comes out on a whole. Again: the pattern is there - a few days thinking on a design then it will be done in a few hours.
There was also some improvement on Flash buttons, rather how to make the button invisible: found useful tutorial on how to make hotspot in flash movie.It is quite handy - now i can make any flash menus using invisible buttons. Imagine my bubble template with the flash menu on bubbles. Ok enough of day(or morning) dreaming. By the way I saw my bubble template on other comp.- the colors are quite not what i meant them to be. Need to test colors from now on for all of my templates at least on 3 comp.
I've noticed recently that my tags cloud(on a sidebar) have its practical use - at least for me: it shows the words i used often without necessity(forgot how it is in English - stop words?)

Uploaded another template to webshapes. I'd rather polish it more but it came out not bad for what it is. Some day I will make some version of it with flash of these big bubbles moving with mouse or slow bouncing. Anyway it was fun to make bubble graphics. The feeling was the same as like being in a bubble bath. Well, we can appreciate something we don't have.

I've changed font here to Trebuchet and the page looks neater than it was with Verdana.

Template Aqua

In the end yesterday I pushed myself to upload template to webshapes.org. My template is called Aqua. It is kind of liberating to do some code cleaning(especially CSS), HTML is always decent at the very beginning. CSS validates always as well but written lazily. I have one excuse for it: as all my templates are working models, it would be hard to make changes in CSS with shorthands. Still, i need to put my CSS for webshapes through the cleaner to make it more presentable.
Edit: The list with the latest templates from webshapes is on a right.

Added a bit of a color to the splash page and changed the look of main title.
In other news: there are plans to make a template for the gallery. I already decided on code but as always: graphics and photo. And bullets. And will need to make it clean and zipped. Not much on a graphics side - just one photo, one background pattern and one bullet.
There also will be changes in Music page. VB album will come out soon and Ze Frank made an appearance with Coulton.
About news page - all my attempts here to have some color end in fading to grey. So I just will stick to it but this masthead will go.

I've changed main page of the blog again to have it looking as the rest of the website. I use separate CSS file, though, to have some other photos on, and may be, different styles. But the structure is good, not only for the regular page but for blog as well. As the rest of the content stays the same, there is almost 400x300 px of the space on which i can display something new every month.

That was quick. I have managed to finish off all pages and unquantifiable.com is online already. Of course it will be weeks of polishing but I'm satisfied with downsizing of copy. Less text, more links and layout is quite flexible.

Removed bright colors on this page - there enough of them left from the photos. Started to revamp Art page yet again. Layout will stay as it is but all images will be replaced. Wordpress and hosting

I hope I settled hosting troubles for www.technotext.nl . It was down for more than 12 hours and i started looking for new host. But now I'm on a new server and hope (for the last time though) that there will be no downtime.
Installed Wordpress blogs twice yesterday. One for the experiments on local server and another as a blog to Technotext NL. Need some plan for the last one: articles, links, blogroll - everything what will keep it rolling. Also some gadgets on translations.

Aqua

1. Photoshop-like templates with the different styles and themes, to place on sale as advert (at least) in 3 places - forums and such;
2. PHP-based experiments: CMS (on local server), newsletter with mailing list, submit forms.
3. SEO template needs updating and as blog splash page for February- what it will look like?
4. Need to add the rest of new fonts for my collection and try them out.
5. Bookmarks - to move them in proper folders.

Smooth curves in Photoshop

While trying to make a smooth curves in Photoshop, I found a tutorial on how actually to make them. But is seems much easier, instead of using Pen tool, just draw the rectangle of a needed color, choose Direct Selection tool to select path of this rectangle,add some extra anchor points to it (like every quarter of the length) and just curve away.

Strange thing is happening: if I place Technorati search on a side bar my Google rank is falling to 1 right away. I couldn't figure right away what is the reason: need to read more about it.
In the other news: my technotext.nl website is on internetsites.nl . So somebody actually voted for it. Good news. I was trying to correct screenshot because all layout is broken on it but with no luck. Only need to find out in which browser this screenshot is taken. Could it be in IE or Javascript was off?
Anyway I need to celebrate: it is for the first time I hear some opinion about my layouts. I mean I know they are not exactly that of top award winner designers but they are exclusively for practical use and most important: quite accessible.

There are some changes in the layout of unquantifiable.com. I added some rounded corners. It required quite a lot of extra mark up so I'm not sure if it is a way to deal with rounded corners but seems better than adding java script to handle them. Now some other adjustments will come: in the text mostly.
In another news: I still wait to upload my new splash page till late hours of New Year Eve. And the last news: the preview of this page is on a right.

So this January splash page for blog is ready. It will be up on a first day of 2007 if I could wait till then. I think I will wait consider that I will get busy with many other pages: current one and these many pages of unquantifiable are waiting for changes.

Spent a few hours on unquantifiable.com redesign. Not finished yet but changes are made and more to come.
I consider to discolor main blog page and the concept is there: between the lines. Moving further to this current page: it will be looking like this a few says at most - like a wrapping for present but then again i will change the masthead.

Finished off Mastheads gallery. Turned out quite well. Not sure how JS gallery will work but later i will try the same in Flash anyway. Thumbnail-preview is on a right.

Done a new edition of the music page. I think I should create some kind of gallery of music pages I've created so far. I will place it on this music page. Also got an idea of collecting all my mastheads in one Flash gallery and include it in my portfolio. In two years I done a lots of them and many I like. I will include about ten of them and see how it will look like. Also will be interesting to play this flash gallery on some page with that many mastheads.

404:not found settled

At last 404 pages are made for both technotext.nl and unquantifiable.com. Now I wander around contact form - want to include it to have some decent contact pages. As always the main problem will be, how to avoid spam. So for now I just read all possible stuff on forms: John Oxton article and about formm@iler. Also found a script on how validate form feedback.
Further: (or not exactly in that order) CMS teasing. I think I will start with WordPress and make couple of templates for it. So this is a plan for holiday season.

Got a new photoshop book as a present for December the 5th. I will post a picture of it later as now have no energy even to make it.
Have some masthead done for the December template so only 2 columns left to style and it will be ready.
Have some idea for black background template on my music blog. Hopefully I will use some tricks from this new photoshop book.

New ideas

Looking for new ideas for December template as I'm not happy with what I've done so far. I think it will come when it will be possible to have some quiet time for Illustrator. Or I will find some nice photo somewhere. But the main job will be to renew unquantifiable.com. Content and some graphics are needed. And 404 files for both websites.

I have so many pages to update each month so it is better to start early this time. Also two blog templates still need some work. They look like something is not quite right yet.

I decided to keep this template for further testing and also will try to fill in another blog page CSS Trace. The idea is that i will test both templates and try to hold on with content as well.
